Horse breeding managed mare by mare, right through to the foal

Inseminations and coverings, scans, calculated due date, foaling box, foals at foot, premiums and gradings, sales: StallDesk supports every breeding season, with alerts that arrive before the due date, not after it.

What you gain

Safety

No breeding date forgotten

Due date calculated from the covering or the date entered, countdown visible to the whole team, banner for imminent foaling.

Money

Sales followed through to the last payment

Price, payment schedule, sales contract as a PDF in three languages with deposit and VAT. The sold horse leaves the stabling by itself.

Organisation

The foal has its record from birth

Stabled with its dam if needed, with its care and its three-generation pedigree. It joins the list of homebred stock.

Breeding records for every mare

The breeding tab on her record shows the mare’s status, in foal, with foal at foot or empty, and traces the season: inseminations with chilled or frozen semen, in-hand or pasture covering, embryo transfer.

Scan and reproductive monitoring records every check, from the 14-day scan to the pre-foaling check. The due date is calculated from the date entered or from the covering, and a banner announces imminent foaling on the mare’s record and on the day’s screen.

  • Countdown to the due date, visible to the whole team
  • Foaling boxes, and foals stabled with their dams
  • A designated breeding vet for the yard

Records that tell the story of breeding and career

Every horse has a three-generation pedigree, its breed and studbook, its colour, its SIRE number and its microchip. As an option, the record can be pre-filled from a photo of the passport.

The career tab keeps breeding premiums and prizes, stallion and mare gradings, and competition results. A printable stable name plate shows the horse’s name, breeding and your stud’s logo.

Breeding and sales: from birth to sale

The “Breeding & Sales” screen lists your homebred horses, the horses at the stud and the horses sold. A sale is recorded with its price and payment schedule, and the sold horse is removed from the yard’s stabling.

The sales contract is generated as a PDF, in English, French or German, with the price written out in words, the deposit, VAT and the clauses of your choice.

Questions about breeding

Can we track stallions and the covering season?

Yes: each stallion has its own record, career and gradings. Coverings and inseminations are recorded on the records of the mares concerned.

Do foals get their own record from birth?

Yes. A foal has its own record, care and location, in its dam’s stable if needed, and joins the list of the stud’s homebred stock.

Can breeding and livery run side by side?

Yes. That’s exactly the case at Haras du Steinberg, where StallDesk was born: the same yard looks after its broodmares and its livery horses.
